Ospreys

Rocks, Fossils and Dinosaurs Activity Day at Stroud Museum in the Park.

Wednesday 28th February

Ospreys set off from school at 9:15 yesterday morning, to walk to The Museum in the Park for an activity day to support our learning in our current Science topic of Rocks and Soils. The museum staff guided us through different activities. We first saw some large dinosaur fossils, and found out about the dinosaurs that once roamed around Stroud, including megasaurus and woolly mammoth. We found out about the sea creatures that lived beneath the Jurassic seas that once covered Stroud, whose fossilised remains can be found in local rocks. We made observations of different rock samples and sorted them into fossils, minerals and rocks. We searched the museum for Nautiloids, and completed a quiz about different fossils found in the museum collection. A special thankyou to the staff at the Museum in the Park for a fascinating and fun day, and thankyou also to the two parents who volunteered to come along and help us on our visit.

Rehearsing for our class play performance

Rehearsals for our performance of Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes Cinderella have been going on for the past week in Ospreys class. Pupils took home their copy of the script to read the whole play and learn their lines. Today we had an excellent practice of the entire play all the way through. The play is a lively and very funny musical version of Roald Dahl’s rhyme version of the story, with many fun songs and dance routines for pupils to learn. Please come along and see our performance, which will be on the 19th and 20th March. It will be great fun!
