Play Performance Preparation

Ospreys have been hard at work rehearsing for their class play performance this week, and today got to try it out on the stage in the hall. Everyone has worked well to learn their lines, and we are now adding in final stages of choreography and stage positioning to the performance. In our Art and Design lesson this afternoon, pupils worked together in table teams to prepare props for the play. This required a great deal of PVA glue and soggy newspaper fun to construct different props using papier mache. We will add finishing touches and paint these next week.

Maths: Multiplying and Dividing by Multiples of Ten and One Hundred

Our focus in maths this week has been multiplying and dividing by multiples of ten. Ospreys have been revising place value and learning to simplify multiplication problems. We have enjoyed playing a favourite place value starter activity, ‘The Nasty Game’, in which teams try to score the highest 4 digit number by giving their opponents low numbers. In our Thursday lesson, we extended our learning by applying what we had learned to multiplying amounts of money, calculating how much ten of each item would cost. Ospreys made fantastic progress this week and I was very pleased that two pupils received a Head Teacher’s Award for outstanding effort in Maths.
