Ospreys

What a week it has been!

It’s been a busy but thoroughly enjoyable first week back at school. All week the class have been completing tasks all centered around a ‘Treasure Island’ theme. Some of the activities included:

  • Writing a message in a bottle
  • Designing their own treasure island
  • Creating a collage of their island
  • Making treasure chests

The highlight of the week for me was when I introduced the children to the ‘Beebots’ as part of a lesson on algorithms. First, they had to take turns ‘programming’ each other a set of instructions and the other completing the algorithm as if they were the Beebots. Then, once they got the hang of it, they were able to use the Beebots and program them to move from place to place – it was lots of fun!

Welcome Back!

We hope that you all had a brilliant summer and had plenty of opportunities to catch up with friends and loved ones that you were unable to see during lock down. All of us in the Osprey class (Miss Richardson, Miss Grace, Mrs Salter, Mr Godwin and Miss Saunders) cannot wait to see you all in the classroom ready to learn and have fun.

Important information for Monday:

  • To minimise items going between home and school, we kindly request that children do not bring in pencil cases. It also reduces the the risk of children sharing equipment brought in from home, which is unnecessary as we have enough in school for the class to use.
  • PE kits will need to be brought in on Monday. The children will need clothes and shoes appropriate for both indoor and outdoor lessons.
  • Please remember to arrive promptly at your allocated time. Children will be entering the school via the KS2 entrance. Miss Richardson will be there to welcome children in to school on Monday morning.

We know that returning to school may be worrying for some children (and parents!) but we will do everything that we can to make the transition to our ‘new normal’ as smooth and stress free as possible.

We are very much looking forward to seeing you all on Monday, have a lovely weekend!
